Safe In The Rain

the idea was to post about the cool 22 page preview of pop gun war: chain letter before i did the stumptown show, (it was a great time by the way. thanks y’all.) but my computer crashed right before the show. bummer. so i finally got my computer working again and i have a few things to announce.
i did get the covers done in time and the books sold pretty well at the show.
they have one page of spot color inside on the last page. the covers are silk screened on both sides. the front is a two-color silk screen. the insides are the first chapter in what is going to be, once i am done working on the wrenchies that is, a 150 book.

if you don’t want to pay to read what’s in the book you can read the first fifty pages for free (eventually). they will still be presented on-line 5 at a time for a few more weeks at the arthur magazine site. jason levian, their comics editor and comic book store Impresario encouraged and helped me to put a paypal button on here for people who are interested in getting the book. as you can see fromt he above pictures there are two different versions of the back cover. an emily and a sinclair. if there is one you would rather have please specify for me. thanks.

if you are a local to the pdx area floating world comics and cosmic monkey both have copies on hand here to sell. i also sent a few over to my pal joey beldon at atomik pop in oklahoma if you are in that neighborhood. for everyone else that wants one of these limited edition series of 100 silk screened covered comic zine thing just press the button and i will send you one. until supplies last that is. i think i have about 40 left to sell. thanks.
speaking of floating world comics. this month i am participating in a group show over there called “full of pryde”. the theme is kitty pryde from the x-men comics, and all the proceeds are going to the oregon hemophilia treatment center. douglas sherwood from oni press did a smashing job curating the show. the opening on first thursday went great. i was there for only a little bit but i had a good time and saw a lot of excellent people. there were some great pieces in the show too.including this really neat one by zachary baldus.

Preview more of the artwork here: http://fullofpryde.blogspot.com/
because i turned mine in at the last minute i haven’t able to scan mine yet, but here is a rather fuzzy picture of it.

there is another not great pic up on bid on mine or whatever one you like best.

and thanks to Henry Chamberlain for the nice interview over at newsarama.

if you didn’t pick up a copy of bird hurdler on free comic book day you should grab one if you can still. i think the book came out great.
they were available at the stumptown show and i gave a bunch of them out at my table.
i was also at cosmic monkey for free comic day and had a great time along with zac soto, tod bak, scoitt mills, caroline main and a bunch of other excellent cartoonist types. thanks adam and andy for hosting that.
bird hurdler was made possible by 3 awesome Portland small presses: Sparkplug Comics, Tugboat press, and Teenage Dinosaur.
contributors include Andrice Arp, Theo Ellsworth, Farel Dalrymple, Zack Soto, Lisa Rosalie Eisenberg and Julia Gfrörer.and the book was printed at Brown Printing (also in Portland).
it is free. but if you can’t find a copy anywhere you can pay one cent plus shipping for it here.
thanks guys.
here is a weird drawing i did the other day.
