sketchbook, etsy store, and jet city show

tomorrow on saturday, September 25, 2010 from 10am to 6pm i will be at the jet city comic show in seattle washington at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall 299 Mercer St. Seattle, WA 98109 i will be sitting or standing with greg means at the tugboat press table signing the new issue of papercutter (see previous post) and selling some art, copies of pop gun war:chain letter, and doing some commissions. please come by and say hello. i didn’t see the table location on the exhibitor list but if you go over to Sparkplug Comic Books at Table 102 i am sure good ol’ dylan sparkplug could point you in the right direction.

if you can’t make it out to the show and want some original art by moi, i finally set up that etsy store: check out my store by CLICKING HERE. i will be updating it weekly, adding new art and prints and more handmade comics. my original comic pages will still be primarily sold through the most excellent comic book shop the beguiling. click on that link to see all my pages they have available.

it was a bummer, but i had to miss the opening reception for the COMICS AT THE CROSSROADS: ART OF THE GRAPHIC NOVEL exhibition at the MARYHILL MUSEUM OF ART. but i thought i would let everyone know that the show will still be up until November 15, 2010 in case they still wanted to check it out. i am also going to be showing twelve new pages from the wrenchies in the school of visual arts alumni show:

Ink Plots: The Tradition of the Graphic Novel at SVA
October 8 – November 6, 2010
Reception: Thursday, October 14, 5:30-7pm

i can’t make that reception either since it is in nyc and i am stuck here on the west coast until i finish the wrenchies. here is some sketchbook stuff, i’ll talk to y’all real soon. c’mon now.

Run to the Hills

okay i am trying this again. i deleted this post last night after having some image viewing problems. let me know if everything is looking ok people. after some crazy issues i have this temporary thing set up as a website. i am trying out some new wordpress looks and hopefully will settle settle on something soon. if anyone wants to see my art portfolio i put it on my flicker account . i’ll be updating that with new drawing and wrenchies pages periodically. and in the next few days or weeks i am going to set up an etsy store or something that i can sell some art and comics on. but all of my comic pages will still be sold through the finest shop in canada, the beguiling.

i am pretty excited about this. i did a ten-page story that features the girls from my myspace dark horse presents comic, and my vice magazine comic strip, and bird hurdler story and possibly in a future issue of studygroup12. i think the book looks great. greg means did a smashing job as editor and publisher. i love the paper he uses and the whole look of the book. here is the cool front cover by nate beaty

nate beaty

dave roche and nate beaty did the excellent main story in the book. i could relate to it having taken some long train trips myself. and i thought it was pretty hilarious and enjoyable. nate beaty is also the regular artist of the inside covers of papercutter. there is also a one pager in this ishsue by the spectacularjim rugg and brian maruca. it is one of the my favorite anthologies and i am pretty excited to be a part of it.

another thing that i am pretty psyched for is the COMICS AT THE CROSSROADS: ART OF THE GRAPHIC NOVEL exhibition at the MARYHILL MUSEUM OF ART  the postcard is by the superb Jim Woodring. the show goes from September 18 – November 15, 2010. most likely i will be at the opening reception which is on the 18th from 1 to 5 pm. i have never been to this museum before but i have heard it is really cool. i just need to find a ride out to the thing. i think it is like a two hour drive from portland in Goldendale, Washington.

i have heard tell that the conan pin-up i did will be in conan the cimmerian #25. i don’t think that is coming out until october. but GEOF DARROW is doing the Conan the Cimmerian #25 wraparound cover! there is also going to be a bunch of pinups from radical dudes like Jeffrey Brown, Dean Haspiel, Zack Soto, and Dan Hipp.

title or description

then there is the best american comics 2010 edition which is coming out this month. i haven’t seen the book yet but i think there are some omega pages in there. Neil Gaiman is the Editor on this one, as well as the regular editors Jessica Abeland Matt Madden. thanks for reading on the computer. be seeing you.
