the alternative press expo was a ton and a half of fun. thanks to all the swell folks who came by the table and shared a smile, some commerce, or an awkward moment. i met a whole bunch of excellent artists and cartoonists, and i got to see a lot of old friends. i’d like to start going to more shows. if anyone knows of any good ones coming up let me know. the venue was well lit and quite awesomely the inkstuds table was directly behind the pony club table where the new studygroup 12 debuted. Zack Soto would throw an occasional high five or ricola our way. i think the studygroup 12 book looks great.
i put a couple things from my four page studygroup12 story up on my etsy store as well as a couple other newish things. i am really proud to be in that book. zack did a hell of a job putting it together.
there are a lot of killer artists in there: steve weissman, eleanor davis, michael deforge, trevor alixopulos, t edward bak, max clotfelter, vanessa davis, theo ellsworth, jason fischer, nick gazin, richard hahn, levon jihanian, aidan koch, amy kuttab, blaise larmee, corey lewis, kiyoshi nakazawa, tom neely, jennifer parks, karn piana, jim rugg, tim root, ian sundahl, jon vermilyea, angie wang, dan zettwoch.
zack only made 500 copies though so be sure to act quick and get a copy of that. If you are in PDX, SF, NYC, or LA Floating World Comics, Giant Robot Magazine and Stores, & Secret Headquarters should have copies to sell you. and any retailers interested in getting some for resale should direct queries to Sparkplug Comic Books.
i’d also like to give some special thanks to robin mcconnell and the super cool conundrum press for sharing their table with me as well as giving me a ride down to the show.
and a big thanks to andy from cosmic monkey for giving me a ride back to portland. cosmic monkey is another swell comic shoppe here in portland. there sure are some nice people in comics. i did this quick drawing on the ride back.
it’s hard to draw in the car. it was rather bumpy. i brought a few copies of smith’s adventures in the supermundane to show and they actually sold out. i still have those available on my etsy store

i was also selling the new papercutter at ape. if you still haven’t got your copy you can order online from : Atomic Books, buyOlympia and Quimbys. and available wholesale to bookstores from Last Gasp.
and i heard it officially from my editor, my spiderman and silver surfer story is in strange tales II issue two due in stores Nov 3rd. don’t let my not being listed in the lineup fool you.
here’s some more sketchbook stuff: thanks for reading this far. see you on the computer.
