bi-coastal in april

duck boy
Hey gang,
this duck character makes a brief appearance in the wrenchies. i thought he was funny and worth sharing.
here are a couple of newsworthy announcements. in march i will be part of a panel at the public library association preconference. i am not entirely sure what that entails but i will post more closer to it.
In april i be in new york city for the mocca festival. i will most likely be standing behind the meathaus table doing some drawings for whomever and possibly be selling another limited edition zine type thing. i will post more about it when the date draws nearer. also that month i will be at portlands local show, stumtptown comics fest.
i was recently sent this link from newsarama
omega the unknown was chosen as one of the American Library Association’s Top Ten graphic novels for teens.
yay. i love the library. i visit my library in st. johns about two or three times a week.
esao vertigo
tomorrow is new comics day and we got a good one coming out.

pal, esao andrews painted this excellent cover. i drew 6 of the interior pages. check it out at your local comics shop.
here is the info:

it was my first real experience working with vertigo. it was a fun project and everyone was super cool. i hope to do more stuff for them some day.
speaking of everyone being super cool, i just finished a ten page story for
papercutter, tugboat press’ excellent anthology. i am not sure exactly when that is coming out yet. i’ll pass along the details and maybe some preview art when i know for sure.
now here is some dorky sketchbook stuff.
view from a local coffee shop.

i used to really like that abbott and costello version of jack and the beanstalk
jack and the beanstalk
this one was inspired by the original prisoner which i was recently re-watching. that box set was one of the nicest gifts i have ever received.

  2. Good shit bro. good shit. I love bird guys. I hope to make it down to stumpy.

  3. nice

    virgil looks live action tmnt-ish

  4. Definitely see you in April, at MoCCA. Your blog posts are super exciting and get me ramped up do work in my own sketchbook. Virgil the Teeth Duck looks like a lot of fun!

  5. yessir! luvin the floatin’ ellafant!

  6. that would be swell! i hope you do. maybe i can do a robin for you.

  7. oh man. maybe that’s why i drew him. i was possessed by the ghost of corey feldman. me and brandon graham used to work with the red head kid from that turtles movie.

  8. Hey! Gabriel was just here a couple of days ago! He fell asleep while we were watching movies. Anyway I thought of you so HI HELLO!

Also, all I ever draw these days is ducks. It’s a minor obsession. Yours is pretty fancy, though. Cheers!

  9. thanks. yep, see you at the show. hopefully i wont be too delirious from all the hustle and bustle of the big city.

  10. yeah, ducks are swell fun. thanks for the hello. gabriella’s narcolepsy is to blame. i have found that feeding him beer does a good job of reviving that rascal.

  11. Howdy

Hey, Farel. It’s Henry. Just perusing and admiring.

Funny thing about the TMNT aspect to the Duck Man: I recently purchased a TMNT t-shirt from Target two weeks ago, my first impulse buy in about a decade (8 bones well spent, though). Virgil is an awesome name, by the way, and very TMNT in that pick the artisan of antiquity kind of way. The tape cassette is cool, as well.

You should know that Gretchen and I have given you your own corner in our APT. Feel free to stop by some time to see it.

  12. Re: Howdy

thanks henry. great to hear from you. i miss you guys. even though it gets lonely sometimes up here in saint jonathans, i got to see a real life bald eagle the other day. i never saw one of those before. i like the name virgil too but for the life of me i can’t remember where i stole it from. that tmnt shirt should have vanilla ice on it. go ninja go. i’d love to come see your guy’s place. can i jump on your bed? i’d take my shoes off of course, and maybe my shirt with a little pressure.

  13. Hi Farrel,

I know it’s a little late but Happy Birthday Pal!

  14. thanks, rich. i miss you. don’t take any wooden dickles.
    luv.
