Dungeons Of Darkness

Hello guys,
Jason over at floating world comics. let me know sort of recently that the next installment of pop gun war: chain letter is up on Arthur magazine’s site. Check it out and enjoy. In between working on wrenchies pages I will be coloring some of the pop gun war pages and putting up the next chapter real soon. the plan is to do another limited edition of part two. keep your eyes peeled for news about that.
this is another fun sandman commission I did recently for my pal rob. Thanks rob.
zelda and chantal
these ladies are called Zelda and Chantal, and they like spiders, like David Sedaris apparently does.
And here’s another one I did for a smashing chap named David (not Sedaris) in his sketchbook. Thanks David.
calvin and hobbes
It was fun seeing all the other Calvin sketches in the sketchbook. I especially enjoyed the two by . That guy is one of my favorites.
This weekend I will be in a group show in LA at exhibit a gallery.
If you are in the Los Angeles area this weekend please go check out the show.
The gallery is at
1086 SOUTH FAIRFAX AVE.
LOS ANGELES CA. 90019
And I think you are supposed to rsvp at the website or something but the opening is on Saturday, August 29th at 7pm
Here is the invitation:
bipolar
Sadly I won’t be able to attend. But please let me know how it went if you go. I sent them three pieces, a triptych that I did for the gaming company, white wolf.
Here is a small version of one of them.
sacrifice
I am pretty excited to be part of the show. The gallery is co-owned by dogtown skateboard legend Tony Alva.
The theme of the show, “bipolar” has something to do with doing work people might not recognize as your own. I thought the sort of heavy metal vibe i tried to get in the white wolf pieces that bill.

I am still available for commissions please email me at fareldalrymple@yahoo.com for rates.
Thanks.

  1. Gorgeous work, man. I wished you’d actually worked on Sandman!

  2. thanks, james. yeah, it would be fun to do some stuff for vertigo. maybe i will someday.

  3. What’s stopping you?
    No, really.

  4. What I mean is, have you never been approached? I’d of thought you’d be exactly the kind of artist they would be dying to get their hands on.

  5. those commissions are awesome. i finally read omega last week, and i liked it a lot. there was a lot more to it than i expected.
and i agree that you’d be a good fit for vertigo, especially after they put out the jeff lemire book. i haven’t actually read any of his stuff yet, but it seems like it probably has a pretty similar vibe to what you do.

  6. Awesome stuff as usual.

Maybe one day I’ll be able to afford a commission from you. I really dig your watercolor stuff.

  7. it’s not for lack of trying on my part. i certainly have never been approached by anyone at vertigo, but i have made more than a few attempts with a couple editors. maybe it has just been bad timing, or the people i have talked with, or my style isn’t what they want, or something like that. but there is a chance i might possibly be doing a little something soon. i will for sure let y’all know once i get all the details. i don’t want to jinx anything.

  8. thanks paul, you are one of my favorites.

  9. i’ve only read his first top shelf book, Essex County (Vol 1): Tales From The Farm. i dug it. that guy seems really prolific.
thanks for reading omega. yeah, i think omega is pretty layered. those scripts were intense. lethem’s writing is brilliant. have you ever read any of his prose? i read amnesia moon recently. it is terrific.

  10. i haven’t read any of his books, but now i think i might have to. i have a huge pile of books i need to get through first though…

  11. Your work is an ispiration. You make my day!
    thanks

  12. thank you. i just check out your blog. it’s great. i love that tomato drawing. and that bow and arrow comics looks radical.
