the above image is for a show my little sister is playing in next friday. check it out if you are in thy bay area. the original of this business is for sale on my etsy store too. it doesn’t have the type on it or the background for that matter. the original back ground is just the white of the card stock. this drawing was inspired by a moebius’ drawing in his sublime 40 days in the desert. i left the book at my studio or i would post a jpeg of the original drawing. see if you can tell which one it is.

**so stumptown comics fest went pretty smooth and was a lot of fun. thanks to indigo and everyone else who helped put the show on and participate in it. this was the mini i made for stumptown.

i sold out of the forty copies i made exclusively for the show. but if you want to read the thing i have been posting a spread from it almost every day on my tumblr. just four more spreads to go and the whole thing will be on-line for your potential amusement or indifference. i also sold the very last of the copies of pop gun war: chain letter 2 i had. there might still be an issue or two at floating world if you still want one otherwise you might have to wait a few years for me to finish the whole dang book.

**next weekend (May 7th and 8th) i will be at will be at tcaf in toronto, cananda!

**copies of diamond comics (#6) are available from floating world comics (#6) for $4 in case you weren’t one of lucky people who got one of the 5000 copies included as a FREE insert in the 4/14 issue of the portland mercury. i just saw that Erik Henriksen gave diamond 6 and my spiderman story in strange tales two a nice word. thanks. it seems like every time i see my work in print for the first time i find some big mistake i made. i can’t believe i didn’t notice this until i saw the flyer, but i brilliantly gave leon fireglove two right hands.

nice. yeah…maybe it will make some sort of sense within the story. i like how i didn’t notice that when i was pencilling or coloring it but it is the first thing i saw when it printed.  but it all printed great and all the comics look swell. the wraparound cover by Paul Pope is super neat. floating world is holding onto 1000 copies which will be sold at the store and through select distributors. ** big deal weekend. it’s portland oregon’s own stumptown comics fest. i will be there at booth D-3. on the map it looks like if you take a right at the entrance and i am just a few booths down. the show is at the Oregon Convention Center, Portland, OR. i will be there the whole time, April 16th 10-6pm & April 17th 12-6pm, selling original art and comics stuff. maybe even a new mini that i was supposed to have the emerald city show. get into it.

**there are a lot of events happening around the show including a big show at : People’s Art of Portland, Downtown at Pioneer Place Mall, Third Floor, Suite 4005 700 SW Fifth Avenue.

There is an opening night costume party thing for it on Friday, April 15 5-10 p.m. | FREE | All Ages. The mall galleries (4 of them) are in partnership with PNCA (Pacific Northwest College of Art) and are open 4 days a week. I have ten framed pages from the wrenchies up in that show. they are all in sequence and for sale. I imagine the show will be up all month if you can’t make it this weekend. **also in the same area and definitely worth checking out is the mind-blowing terada show at the compound gallery.  that guy sure knows how to draw. and the mike allred show at floating world is pretty dang sweet too. mike is himself no slouch in the drawing department.

**now for perhaps the biggest and bestest news of all the next full color issue of diamond comics (#6) will be available for the stumptown show. Featuring a wraparound cover and 1 page comic by ink wizard, Paul Pope! it is 28 pages, in Full Color, measuring 10.25″ x 13.5″, printed on unbound newsprint, for sale for $4. Awesome contributor list for DIAMOND 6: Paul Pope, Farel Dalrymple, Bendik Kaltenborn, Lala Albert, Jim Rugg, Stanley Lieber, Zack Soto, Sam Hiti, Jonny Negron, Lane Milburn and Dash Shaw.  all amazing cartoonists. i have been wanting to do something for diamond comics since issue #1. i am very excited to be included in this one. 5000 copies will be included as a FREE insert in the 4/14 issue of the Portland Mercury coming out this week. floating world is holding onto 1000 copies which will be sold at the store and through select distributors. Emerald City Comic Con was fun, relatively stress free and i feel for the most part i didn’t make a dork of myself too bad during the actual show. apologies to anyone i annoyed with all of my offensive idiocy saturday evening after the show. and sorry i couldn’t spend more time with all the excellent people that were there. i didn’t do too much hanging out on this trip.

so many awesome artists i wish i could go. too bad i can’t be in both cities at the same time. i won’t have the original in the show but will make it available for purchase on my etsy store if anyone is interested. speaking of my store i have put a few new watercolors up there recently. these three guys are still available on there. click on them to see them whole. get into it.

in a few months i will be hitting a couple shows on the east coast, The Toronto Comic Arts Festival May 7-8 and Philadelphia Comic Con June 17-19. i got my dumb face up on the wizard world site even. and of course i will be at the cool local show stumptown comics fest again this year which my pally brandon graham did a rad poster for. see if you can spot my character sinclair hiding in there.

the spider Jerusalem commission i did is going to be in the transmet art book. there is a kickstarter for that project if y’all want to get on board.

starting next month (march) i will also be sharing a studio space at tranquility base. it is located directly above floating world comics. i am looking forward to it.

you got to click on the image  if you want to see it big! people have been asking when the wrenchies is coming out. my new goal is to have this book finished for this summer. that means it probably won’t be published and on the shelves until 2012. hopefully it will be worth the wait. i put a few new things up on my etsy store. including these two things that sold right away.

floating world comics just recently posted their top 25 best seller list for 2010. my own dumb little book,pop gun war: chain letter #2 co-published by flaoting world comics made it in at #25. i think jason still has some copies of that at his excellent store or you can still buy it here. i only have about forty copies left to sell. c’mon now. i am sending out a bunch of orders tomorrow morning. so if you ordered something from me in the last few weeks it is on it’s way to you. my most effusive apologies for them taking so long to get out.

i posted about this already on the facebook but if you don’t mess with that stuff (understandbably) i wanted to pass the word along here. a couple of pals of mine just finished the last issue of their exquisite and exciting three-part series, poison the cure, and they started a kickstarter page to help them publish it. the first two issues are superfun reading and are around 100 pages each. i haven’t read the last issue yet obviously but i am sure this last issue will be just as good.

i also wanted to let evreybody know about my pal roger’s blog. which he hasn’t posted to in a while but has the entire issue of his hilarious comic, devil church on there.
