i detest that animal

a few nights ago my sister’s dog somehow managed to puke under the covers on my bed. a fact i had the pleasure of discovering right before sleep overtook me and directly after my feet were fully submerged in vomit. yay. earlier that day that detestable beast got into the garbage and ate more than her fill of birthday party refuse, including enormous amounts of candy, chocolate (disaster for dogs), and birthday cake soaked paper plates. yes, she eats paper. after stripping the bed and performing the cleanup operation i finally managed to fall asleep a few hours later at around 11 am or so, my anger abated….somewhat. my five year old niece said that she heard the torrent of curse words that i was screaming through the walls. poor kid. my sleep schedule is so messed up. i can’t seem to get back to a healthy routine of waking up at noon. the next day i went to see a show at cain’s ballroom: ash, the bravery, and aquaduct. i met some cool people but left through the last set (sorry, wasn’t too into aquaduct’s brand of party rock). i drove home feeling empty and burnt on being around people, poured a glass of makers, drank a beer, and put on the coachwhips. despite my best efforts i couldn’t finish the one glass of whisky. it seems like i have almost completely lost my love of drink, both a sad and a good thing i guess. lately i have been feeling very apathetic about everything. but it doesn’t bother me….and that sort of bothers me. it is all probably because i am not sleeping properly. so here’s an idea that will maybe kick my butt a little. i am thinking about doing a small silkscreen of emily and sinclair. see sketch idea below:
it will probably be around 4″ x 10″, two colors. once i get some done i’ll post something on here. i owe a few of thank you cards for the birthday gifts and for being awesome. once i finish them, which should be in the next few weeks i will let you doods know.

hey farel, 1) how was Ash? 2) i love any and all emily 3) you can stand on top of my house and throw some fruit and probably hit the Coachwhips house and 4) i step in dog and cat puke everyday. i kinda can’t wait to move out so i won’t have to be around 4 beasts (all of which i love, if course. they just tend to projectile vomit towards me alot).

Was that Ash as in Northern Irish, Tim Wheeler, Charlotte Hatherley etc? Good band.
Tim Wheeler turned up as support for the Flaming Lips in London a couple of years ago — played three acoustic songs with a bloke on double bass. The first two were Ash songs, the last one he introduced as an ‘Old Irish folk-song’.
It was Teenage Kicks.

The Bravery are the big new thing over here at the moment. Sold out a load of big gigs before anyone heard the album on the basis of being the BBC’s pick for band of 2005. There allright, decent enough live, I saw them a few months ago as a support act. The albums allright, way overhyped.
Ash like most Irish bands are always reliable. Solid solid band with a cute girl playing guitar. Sometimes you just don’t want much more than that.
Sketch idea sounds good. I like her standing on the chair a lot, it’s good stuff man.

How was your birthday otherwise?
The thing that I think makes the Emily/Sinclair really work for me is having that easy-chair out in the street. (Probably necessary if you’re going to have S flying above and all.) Something about the indoor thing being outside gives it just the right flavor. Anyway, am totally down for one when you pull it together.
My sleep schedule solution is always the same. Coffee until I can get through the super long day, then crash at the hour of choice and sleep like the dead to put me back on sched…

yep, they played a good set. they mentioned they were from northern ireland and after they were done playing the sound guy put on the new u2 album. bleah. should have put on some thin lizzy or something.
the girl in ash was cute. the bravery were pretty good but yeah, i am not rushing out to buy their album or anything. maybe i need to hear some of their songs a few more times first. they had that joy division type sound a lot of bands are doing now, like those interpol and bloc party guys.which is cool because i like me some joy division.
i should just give up even trying until i move into my own place again. i did go to bed around 1 am or so last night and woke up at 9. we’ll see how long i can keep doing that.

well it wasn’t directly after he said that. that would have been in the middle of their set and pretty rude. he put it on between sets. who knows if it was intentional? maybe he just really likes U2.

my friend tim has a dog that eats paper. once our band was rehearsing at his house and the dog tried to eat the lyrics i had written down. i don’t know if that was a commentary on the quality of the lyrics or anything. i don’t think she’s ever puked in his bed but i do know that we had a party at tim’s house once and a kid threw up and the dog started eating it, how’s that for disgusting.
also luke has a dog and whenever i’m at his house he tries to make it eat my face.
bottom line, i’m just not big on dogs.
