midwest nights

just got back from my east coast trip.this is from the bizarro signing at jim hanley’s universe
there was a nice review of the book in the issue of the onion (feb 10-16 2005) that was out when i was in town.
and here are some pics from chris mcd’s wedding in philly.
it was one of the best times in my life. everyone at the wedding was excellent.
the entire trip was a lot of fun except for the cruddy weather most of the days i was in nyc. it is good to be back. i have a pile of work to sort through. stress.
there is a short film (slim) that my friend matt (dayofthelocust) made in some festivals coming up . rogerhumanbeing and i are in the movie in a few scenes.
The first will be New York University’s First Run Film Festival from March 29
through April 3

and
International Film Festival in the Short Film Program. in Seattle

that looks super. I wish I had the heavies to rock the trench.
some kind of gay pride bullshit?
whos who in that picture. is that kupperman back there looking all crazy eyed. i met him in the summer and forgot what he looked like.
man_size provided this key
L to R: John Kerschbaum, Leela Corman, Todd Alcott [behind Leela], Joey Cavalieri, Chris Duffy [behind Joey], Tom Hart, Dave Roman, Michael Kupperman [behind Dave], Raina Telgemeier, R. Sikoryak [behind Raina], Danny Hellman, Dean Haspiel, Farel Dalrymple
the guy under the humor sign is really excited.
I’m amazed that michael kupperman can’t draw better considering how old he looks.
what are you talking about? he is awesome. snake and bacon’s cartoon cavalcade is one of the funniest books in the universe!!!!! i like his drawings.
that’s kupperman. he’s great. i acted like a jerk and got really drunk at his book opening at kgb bar and had almost every cartoonist there sign a copy of his book. kaz signed it to:fartle. there was some other guy there smashing bottles on the ground.
i have to say, that is one stylish sweatshirt you are wearing.
thanks, it is my favorite. the best part about it is the white trees are all puffy and plastic feeling.
$3 at a local thrift store. worth every penny.
$3? that’s like £1.50. you can barely buy a sandwich with that kind of money in england.
also, i love shirts that have ‘puffy’ designs. i have a batman shirt like that.
it’s a good icebreaker at parties. ‘hey, yo, feel my shirt..”
What is Snake and Bacon?
it is a book by kupperman and it is very funny. i effed up and called it cavalcade. i always do that. it is actually cabaret

yeah, when i was in london i noticed it was pretty expensive there. still there aren’t too many thrift stores in general these days that aren’t completely overpriced and picked through. there is one pretty good one left in here tulsa though.
what’s wrong with kupperman’s drawing style?
i read your comment about 5 times before i realized you were talking about the dude on the left with the trench coat.
that is what you meant right?
Dear Nickle Ass
Stop trying to rain on the Go Team Comix! parade. It will get you nowhere. First Tony Millionaire, now this. What are you trying to prove? Everyone in Comix draws awesome. No one draws better than anybody else. It’s not about competition, it’s about love and happiness and making lots of money. Get that straight, please.
Dear Nickle Ass
How many times do I have to tell you to stop projecting your latent homosexual desires onto others? It’s making me uncomfortable. What would your dad say?
It’s funny how you get drunk and act like an ass then you tell Nick and me to stop horsing around at that bar last time we met, remember? Not a gripe, just found it amusing.
yeah, i can be a paranoid hypocrite.
Basing my observations solely on his Bizarro comic I thought his anatomy and sense of shadow was off in a way that I didn’t feel was stylistically cool.
Re: I apologize to the comic book commune.
Sorry Angel, I guess I was out of line. Peace and love to all. I forgot that comics isn’t art, it’s actually a pow wow.
Yeah, you got it. sorry, I am constantly fighting to be on the clearer side. my ish.
