RAT SALAD
by

i had a great time in richmond, va at velocity comics. thanks to patrick and the whole gang there. that is great comic shop.
Attending also were Brian Wood, Becky Cloonan, Jim Rugg, Tom Scioli, Jasen Lex, Rick Spears, and Rob G..
rva resident and excellent cartoonist Dash Shaw put some pics of the signing and after party up on the meathaus blog.
and meathaus gets some props in the new issue of wizard magazine. in issue #174 Meathaus is #25 on their “42 things you need to know about indie comics in 2006″
and i have some sad news regarding meathaus. due to some problems getting the book all finished it looks like meathaus #8: headgames
won’t be in stores until june 2006. we re-solicited issue 7: love songs though so that will be in select stores around the country.
and this show is already over but i really liked this flyer my buddy angry jim campbell did. that is my best buddy roger in the drawing. his face sometimes appears in my own work.

i don’t think i will be able to make it to staple this year. it is a bummer because i missed it last year too. i really wanted to go but with my current schedule i just couldn’t swing it. as my friend brandon graham says, too much adventure and not enough comics. speaking of, he is going to be in a show in seattle at this place. here is the flyer.

this is why i added you man.. love the sketches. gives me something fun to look at while i’m at work.
Damn, I’m going to Staple and it would have been awesome to meet you. Your sketchbook stuff blows me away!
Sorry to have missed ya and everyone else at Velocity. If you do SPX this year I’ll catch ya there.
do you use any referencing when you’re sketching?
that truck for example?
Your sketch book stuff is fucking great. Post more pages.
and that was me.
when i first read “bad news about meathaus” my heart lept. im feeling relieved that the news wasnt worse.
thanks for posting pretty pictures, Farel….
xoxo
as usual… I’m in complete awe of your talent!
For some reason, I thought you were going to be at the New York ComicCon this past weekend, so like an idiot, I kept asking folks “Hey, have you seen Farel?”
The fellas (in Panel) and I probably would of went to that signing in Richmond. A bit far for us but I’m glad to hear it went alright.
Gosh, Brandon Graham is everywhere these days!
Super work as always, my friend.
fantastic sketches!
i draw from life sometimes but most of the stuff in my sketchbook is out of my head. half of that truck was drawn stuck in traffic on icy roads in arkansas. it took us about 5 hours to go 27 miles. i drew for part of the time but was so antsy i had to figure out other stuff to do. the rest of the truck i filled in later.
yes, my friend, i wish i could have gone.
ah, okay. that’s very cool.
your sketches remind me of a stream-of-consciousness.
“too much adventure and not enough comics”
wow, i’ve had a unsettleing thought like that floating arround in my head for the last year, and this phrase makes me have to face the grim reality of the situation. do i have to choose between staying out all night running arround with girls and getting into to trouble
and
locking myself in for every night of the week and get them fucking pages done?
what’s a man to do?
brutal sketches dude
Hey Farel..
remember back in the day I asked you if it would be alright if I got Percy permanently etched into my body? … well.. I did it…
I can’t really figure out how to post a picture in the comments soo email me if you’d like to see it.. she did a pretty good job…
Thanks for the inspiration.
