we’re running into a wall

enginehearts
ok i made myself promise i wouldn’t vent on-line any more but can someone please put a stop to all these television commercials and lame movies in which old white people rap and use street slang?!?
am i the only one who thinks that is just not funny at all. that is what i get for watching television i guess.
for those of you in tulsa i did this flyer for this rad rock band the engine hearts. they are playing as part of a music festival on saturday called dfest.
coincidentally on the same night my friends in soophie nun squad, nate powell
andmike lirely. are playing here in town for rival music festival, plan-it-x fest
i’ll be hanging out at the latter most likely.
and…
it looks like i am not going to be able to make it to the san diego comic con show this year. i’m too swamped with work. i am bummed about it because i told several people i was going to go. i was also supposed to be on the project superior panel. if any of you go please beat up some klingons in my name.
now here are a couple more sketchbook pages.

  1. You magnificent bastard. I needs you to go to the comicon. I just booked my hotel room, and it feels so empty without you.

  2. dang! I’m sorry to hear you won’t be headed to Comic-Con.
I was going to have you stop by the Star Wars pavilion to wave to folks on our live web cam!

  3. Loving the sketches so very much…

  4. sorry bro-sef. i wish i could be there. i just don’t see how i can make it at this point. i miss you guys so much it hurts

  5. i like when all the star wars characters do the big march down the main drag. that is worth the whole con.

  6. I’m real disappointed you won’t be there. I was looking forward to that superior panel and whatever other nonsense we could find.

Keep posting artwork though, it’s a great way to start the day.

  7. my favourite parts of these are the hallway with the i don’t get it kid and the crumpled pop can flying through the air.

  8. the first guy reminds me of dave’s character, Cybert:

  9. Come on man, you’re better than this. Next time try harder.

  10. This work inspires me.

  11. oh man, tell mr. roman not to sue. i must have done that unconsciously

  12. is rollie fingers here being serious?

  13. I don’t know you fucking chooch, why don’t you come find me and find out?

  14. Have you seen the pictures of Star Wars Celebration 3? There are really good photos at starwars.com and little videos of fat stormtroopers marching around on theforce.net. The weirdest is a little Lando and a photo off 20 Leias in golden bikinis.

  15. ha ha. yes, rollie is very forthcoming with his opinions, claiming repeatedly that ian mackaye ruined punk music. nick buys his punk rock tees on st. marks street because he’s punk as fuck. so every obnoxious thing that sprouts forth out of his brain i have to take with a grain of proverbial salt.

  16. yup…Stormtroopers on parade is always my favorite too… ;-)

  17. I don’t get to go either

I just looked at the panel schedule and I’m missing out on so much good stuff too! not only does that project superior panel sound awesome, but the spotlight and David B. would be inspiring as well. San Diego’s just not as close as it used to be. You should come to SPX to make up for it.

  18. More Dalrymple quality goods. What’s going on with the kid with the “I don’t get it” shirt with his hand in the bag? What’s in the bag? Is it something awful? Is the bag concealing a bloody stump? You know how anxious I get about concealed wounds and deformities. This is seriously driving me up the wall.

  19. Well put!

Nonetheless, Ian Mackaye did start that whole obnoxious straight-edge thing, which got way out of hand.

  20. i leave it up to your imagination good sir. i think i drew that bag because i messed up his hand beyond repair. same reason that kid’s foot is the shoe box.

  21. Re: I don’t get to go either

yep, we gotta hit that up for sure. and make kettner go too.

  22. plan-it-x fest was just ok this year in dc.

  23. that little boy seems to be in the similar room as the old ‘good night’ man.. curious about where did the idea for the room come from. i like that space. i wish it were real.
